China Shuts Down Church Website By Force

July 3, 2009

in News

So it seems the United States might find some encouragement from the Chinese government when it comes to shutting down “hate” speech centers. Or so one might think after China forcably shut down a church website. No official word on the major news sites concerning “official” outrage from the American government. Hmmmmm.

Christian Newswire reported yesterday that a Christian church website in Beijing has been shut down by the local government. Government authorities are claiming that the website was a, “website of an illegal Christian organization.” This just serves as a reminder to me of how much I should value the freedom of speech I am given. I CAN create a website that communicates the love of Jesus, I CAN create a website to help pastors, and I CAN create a website that helps churches, all without fear that my government would shut me down. I would ask all readers of this blog, to pray for this ministry in China, and that their rights and website would be restored. Press release after the jump.
