Position Description
Children’s Minister Job Description
I. The ideal Children’s Minister (male or female) will:
A. Possess a love for children and a desire to see them live a life devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ
B. Be committed to the values of the Restoration Movement
C. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in ministry or education, or have equivalent experience
D. View this position as a full-time professional ministry, not just a job
II. The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
A. Children’s Church:
1.Leading Children’s Church at 11:00 service, along with volunteers
2. Choosing and providing curriculum
3. Overall making this a “flagship” ministry
B. Sunday night children’s program:
1. Work, hands-on, with this ministry on Sunday evenings
2. Working with volunteers to raise the bar in this ministry
C. Sunday School
1. Rotate among children’s classes from time to time, being available to fill in teaching as needed
D. With the aforementioned programs, work to connect kids with each other and challenge them to a higher level involvement
E. Preschool
1. Work closely with the Preschool Coordinator
2. Visit the classes periodically to connect with parents and kids
3. Plan special events for this age group
F. Planning and leading special events and trips
1. Current examples: Egg Hunt, Ground Zero, Birthday Party for Jesus, Club E.G.G., overnighters
G. Promotion and involvement in the ministry of Blue Ridge Christian Camp
1. Working there one week in the summer
2. Encouraging Belmont kids to attend BRCC
H. Continual recruitment and training of appropriately gifted individuals
I. General involvement in the lives of Belmont’s families with children
1. Current examples: in-home visits, attendance at games, recitals, concerts, etc., lunches at schools
III. Additional information regarding the position:
A. The salary will be in the $32,000-$36,000 range, assuming possession of a Bachelor’s degree
B. There will be two weeks off per year, including two Sundays
C. Children’s Minister will take part in training throughout the position in the form of conferences, workshops with established Children’s ministers, etc.
D. Children’s Minister will be accountable to the Senior Minister on a day to day basis, with ultimate accountability to the Elders of Belmont Christian Church
E. Children’s Minister will possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to submit to a background check
