Extra security was brought in to keep the Satanists and Christian Protesters from clashing at the Civic Center. It is the first time such a group has gone this public though these groups have been around. The Christian protesters were out in force with signs and song. It made quite a media pop. Was anything really gained by the protest in this increasingly secular culture or did it only perpetuate a stereotypical image of Christians “fearful” response to people different than them.
In downtown Oklahoma City, Satanists held a Ritual in public at the Civic Center.
The ritual began at 8 p.m. Thursday and drew plenty of controversy. Before making it inside where the Satanists were practicing their religion, prayers were heard outside by groups opposing the ritual.Chiquita Carbajal said she is against the ritual.
“No place for Satan in Oklahoma,” she said. One woman outside began screaming at the Christians to kill each other and rape children.

Apparently many Christians haven’t learned that protests haven’t work for the culture. It hasn’t stemmed the tide of abortion, same-sex marriage and one might ask is this the approach of man and not their Creator.
I’ve posted this article for two reasons. To let Christians know how it looks through the eyes of those around us and also to note the increasing culture changes around us. While Christians struggles to find their God given purpose one might do well to seek a Biblical pattern in the midst dramatic cultural changes. One look at the journey of Paul will reveal a pattern for Christians in the middle of a primarily hostile culture.
Food for thought. ONE LAST THOUGHT. What the secular media won’t talk much about is that this meeting wasn’t open to the media or public. Contrast that with most Christian meetings.
